TOURIST FINANCE.
There has been a decided increase in the number of visitors from Australia, 'according to the annual import of the Tourist Department, which also shows that the' revcru© was £42,218, being an increa.se of £8529, and constituted a record. The ex-1 £:enditure had incrc-cd from £53.666 co £68,858, being largely due to the increased cost of materials and cost of living, and bonuses to: the staff. ' The Waitomo Caves showed a profit of i; 2823 and the Rotorua acclimatisation district £22 on the year's working, but losses were incurred at tii i-emaining resorts, as follows: Te Aroha £1483, Rotorua £7190, Hanger Springs £2779, Hermitage at Mount Cook £6, the Te Anau and Manapouri steamers, Glade House, and the Milford track £643, and Queenstown £627. No allowance is •made in these figures for interest on capital expenditure or for depreciation.
