INCREASES IN FREIGHTS AND FARES.

The' rate of increase, totalling a lillion and a half dollars, grunted to the American railways by the Interstate Commerce. Mr Walker D. Hines, ex-Diroctor-General of Railways, says that the iiicroahc.s will mean a three to fivefold increase in the cost of living and may be kept three-fold by rigid Government action.
