The Boy Scouts at Olympia held an impressive religious service. The Archbishop of York preached. Then the Scouts, in response to Colonel Baden-Powell's call, lowered their colors and bowed their heads in memory of the Scouts who had died in the great war.
The Union Cold Storage Company is purchasing Eastman's, Limited.
Mr Lloyd George states that the Government intends to erec;t a statue of the late Mr Joseph Chamberlain at the Palace at Westminister, at a cost of £10,000. . : NEW YORK, Aug. 1. The American coal production has shown an upward trend since the middlo of April, but has been decreasing during the last few weeks through a strike in Southern Illinois. The output decreased 15 to 17 per cent, and the week's production by nine million tons, more than a million below the average. PARIS, Aug. 1. A company is constructing a pipe line from Hastre to convey 2000 tons of crude petroleum to Paris daily. PARIS, Aug. 2. _ M. Venezelos has arrived, and is expected to open negotiations with the Italians over the Dodecanese Islands dispute, which turns on Italy's failure to realise what was: expected from the Tittoni-Venezelos agreement.
