THE JOCKEY'S REQUESTS.
WELLINGTON, July'l6. The requests made to Sir George Clifford by the deputation of jockeys Avcre considered-to-duy-"by the Racing Conference.
Sir George Clifford stated that in vieAV of tlio high cost of living the jockeys asked for increased fees. They asked for a 50 per cent, increase on all losing fess and a flat rate of 5 per de^t, on all wins, or place money Avhere the third prize Avas £100 or over, Avith a pro rata increase to1 stoopleciiiso and hurdle riders. Ho referred the request to the Stipendiary Committee, which recommended tho various increases.
Sir Geoi-^e Clifford, in moving tho adopt ion of th'o committee^ recommendations, said .that 'other Avageoariiei*3 AA-oie entitled to an advance to meet the cost .of living. In rfll thoiv dealings they had acted fairly and reasonably. The motion' was £gr,eed to.
