ALTERATION OF RULE.

WELaLINGTON, July 10. The Conference decided to, substitute the following for Rule 4, part 20. "Any owner AA-ho has never received payment for training or riding a horse -nay tram his OAvn horse without a trainer's license, provided that such liorso is trained under his own personal superintondonba and that he has obtained from tho district committee written permission to train .such horse. No trainer or an owner who has. obtained Avrittcn permission from the District Committee to tram his OAvn Iktcsc shall Avithout the previous consent in writing of the District Committee, employ any person whose last application for a fteense to train or i ido lias been refused by any District Committee and, such consent miiv at -any time be withdrawn by the District Committee." Tho Conference also dealt favorably with matters for the betterment of the conditions of apprentices. A request by the jockeys was that betAA-.cen May 7th f n<l August 31st inclusive the last race of the day be not fixed for a later hour, than four o'clock, so) as to avtoid danger through running :ra-ces -'n the dark.
