SYDNEY MERCHANT SHOT.
Last week Ernest Samuel Barter, of E. S. Barter and Co., indent merchants, Hunter Street, Sydney, was ia Ijis office shot in the face with a revolver by a man who called to see him, the bullet entering the left side of the face, near the ear, smashing the upper jaw and apparently making its exit by the mouth. Mr Barter, whose age was given as 33, was taken to the Sydney Hospital.! In connection with the affair a 3»ung man named James Granville Robertson (22), described as a farmer, was arrested, and subsequently- brought before the Water Police Court on a charge of shooting with intent to murder.
