INTERCESSIONAL SERVICES.

Wanganiji, June 2G. The intercessory services were held here this morning, afternoon and evening. Palmerston N,, June 26. In spite of the fact that the day was wet and miserable and all Coronation ceremonies were postponed, a large uumber of country people and school children came into town. The school children were supplied with food intended for the Coronation luncheon, the remainder of the eatables being divided between the Charitable Aid Board and the poor in the various church parishes. In the afternoon an impressive service of prayer and inter cession was held in the Theatre Royal, couducted by the Protestant clergy, and was largely attended, the service being devotedly followed by those present. Masterton, June 26. Combined intercession services were held in the Town Hall this afternoon. The building was packed and services were also held at St. Matthew's and St. Patrick's, in the latter in tie morning and afternoon. The town clock and chimes arrived to-day, and will le in position in a fortnight. Wellington, June 26. The children attending the various State schools in the city and suburbs were entertained to-day and supplied with refreshments. The caterer for the affair in the city supplied one ton of cake and 1200 dozen small cakes for the youngsters. Ashburton, June 20. The united religious services held this afternoon were largely attended, when prayers were offered up for the speedy recovery of the King. The proceedings terminated by singing of " God Save the King." The inmates of old men's home were entertained at the Coronation dinner and were afterwards presented with a stick of tobacco and a Coronation card. Nelson, June 2Q. An intercessory service for the restoration of the King's health was held to day. The luncheon arranged for the children and charitable aid recipients was distributed at the ! schools and institutions. Timaru, June 26. Intercessory services were held at St. Mary's Church this morning, conducted by Archdeacon Harper |and a united service in the drill shed this afternoon, at which several thousands were present, including a full repre sentation of Volunteers and school cadets. The Hon. Mr Hall-Jones and Colonel Owen were present. Mayor Craigie opened the proceedings and I the local clergy took part in the service.
