The Times m an article on the shearers difficulty m Queensland praises the action taken by the Government and the success ful resistance that was offered to the demands of the men. It also praises the loyalty and discipline of the defence force and good sense and moderation displayed by the mass of the community. Pickets have blocked two thousand omnibusses, but have allowed the horses to be fed.

The public strongly sympathise with men m their endeavor to seoure a concession of twelve hours per day.

It ia believed that the strike will largely result m the ticket system being adopted' with a view to stopping the peculation that is known to bs carried on.

The directors of omnibus companies have made a general offer to the men out on strike to concede to their demands for 12. hours per day, if they agree to accept sixpence reduction m wages. Exception is made m the case of drivers of road cars, no reduction being made m their wages, although they will not have to work more than 12 hours. The Directors state that this is the last offer they will make, and unless the men accept the terms they will declare a lock-out.

Seven thousand men engaged m the shipbuilding trade m the Clyde have struck against a 5 per cent reduction m wages.

Vienna, June 8.

The leaders of the compositors' strike announce that there will be a general strike of the trade m the autumn, affecting Europe, America and. Australia. [This will not affect the publication of the Express]
