He ascended at Hesbaruques, four miles from Calais, at 4.35 p.m. in brilliant sunshine with a good wind, and proceeding rapidly was soon out of sight. Descent was made in a nioadow behind Windsor Castlo, touching the ground heavily and breaking the propellor with other slight damage. Tho English Channel in its narrowest breadth is 20j miles across.
