PELORUS LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The annual meeting of the above was held on Friday, June 9th, at the Havelock Suburban schoolhouse, Kaituna Valley. Present—Messrs Douslin) in the chair), Tee, Morisou, McDowell, and McMillan. E. S. Oliver applied for an acccomtnodation license for the house recently erected at Deep Creek, Wakamarina. Mr McNab appeared for applicant. The application was granted, Mr Oliver being allowed three months to complete the house. The voting was : For—Messrs Tee, Morison, McDowell, and McMillan; Against—Mr Douslin, who objected ou technical grounds. C. Sutton applied for an accommodation license for a house known as Gibson’s Accommodation House situate at the North Bank of the Wairau. The license was granted, but with the condition that the licensee at all times show travellers over the Wairau river, and on the payment of one shilling ferry foot passengers across, and also to keep the fords properly flagged. Johu Wilson applied for a renewal of his accommodation license for the Pelorus Hotel, Canvastown. Mr Tee raised the objection that this house ought to be licensed as a publichouse, and not as an accommodation house. On the question being put to the vote Messrs Tee and McMillan voted for a publican’s license, and Messrs Douslin, Morison, and McDowell for an accommodation license. J. M. Dickson applied for a renewal of his accommodation license for the Halfway House, Kaituna Valley, which was granted. D. Cooper applied for a renewal of his accommodation license for the house known Cooper’s Accommodation House, Upper Pelorus Valley, which was granted.
