MARLBOROUGH LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, June 5. Present—The Chief Commission (in the chair), and Messrs Robinson, Paul and Dive. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Leave of absence was granted to Mr Ingles. A letter was received from Mr W. A. Low, requesting the Board to reconsider its decision as to the rent for 9,000 acres of land part of Barefell’s run, transferred by Messrs J. and T. Carter to him. Mr Barleyman appeared for the applicant, but the Board declined to aceede to the request. Transfer of Pastoral Leases :—J. and T. Carter to W. A. Low, part of Barefell run, 9,000 acres, was sanctioned, subject to the Chief Commissioner being satisfied on inspecting the deed of assignment, dated 7th June, 1577 ; rent to be paid by Mr Low under present lease, LBS per annum. Transfer of Mr W. A. Low’s pastoral lease, dated ISth October, 1572, Nortli Clarence and, No. 3, was also sanctioned subject to approval of deed by Chief Commissioner. A letter from Messrs Rogers and Barleyman was received in reference to the preparation of renewal leases, and it was resolved thai leaseholders applying for renewals can, if they so please, have their leases drawn up by their own lawyers, providing such lawyer resides within the Provincial district of Marlborough, but in the event of the Board having to obtain legal opinion it shall be at the expense of the applicant. The following leases were approved of for signature :—Lease to James Davidson and E. G. T. Gooch of part of Jam run ; to Thomas Carter of Hillersden run ; to Thomas Carter of Stronvar run; to the Bank of New Zealand of Castle run. The Ranger’s report dated 9th May as to W. J. Erskine’s deferred-pay nent holding was read. The application of W. Henderson for exemption from residential condition was granted for the first year of his license. An application for a transfer of a license was received from Mr E. C. Cox to John Gould, of Nydia Bay, and a declaration by Mr Gould appended. The undermentioned transfers of pastoral lease of Fitirangi run were sanctioned and ordered to be recorded :—From Geo Cowie and B. Izard to Robert Iverr and J. S. Kerr ; from R. Kerr to Wiiliam Rolls and W. K. McDonald ; from J. S. Kerr, W. Rolls, and W. K. McDonald to J. Holliday. The transfer by John Mills of all his interest in the pastoral leases of the Peninsula and Hopai runs to the other lessees, viz., A. Mills, C. H. Mills, and T. H. Mills, was sanctioned, and ordered to be recorded. Applications for renewals of leases were received from :—G. R. Keene and B. R. ICeeue, for a renewal of lease for Swyncombc run ; approved, subject to satisfacfactory evidence being produced to the Chief Commissioner that the applicants are entitled to the lease. Mathew Richmond, of Richmond Brook run ; application granted. N. A. Low, for leases held by him, or Messrs J. and T. Carter, for him ; granted, on necessary signatures being obtained. A. Mills, C. H. Mills, and T. H. Mills, for Peninsula run ; granted, The undermentioned renewals of leases were approved for signature :—Henry Otterson, Gladstone run; M. IV •''•nond, Richmond Brook run; J. H. Spencer, Separation run ; M. Mowat, Middlehurst run ; J. C. Chaytor, Tua Marina run ; J. Holliday, Titirangi run ; W. Strange (trustee in estate of late S. Stephens) Wakefield Downs run ; W. H. Harvey, A. Harvey, J. N. Harvey, and N. A. Harvey, Warwick run and Warwick; E. Symons, part of Saw-Tooth run. A letter was received from Messrs Rogers and Barleyman, applying on behalf of persons interested for renewals of the undermentioned leases :—Birch Hill and Raglan runs, the Upper run, the Te Arowhenua run, the Wantwood run, and the runs transferred to Mr Low. Approved. An application for a pastoral lease by W. Kensington for about 1500 acres in the Kaituna Valley, Cloudy Bay and Onamalutu Survey Districts, was received, but it was decided that steps be taken to procure the approval of the Governor to a lease of the same being offered at Auction.
