Te Poi.
FANCY DRESS DANCE.
Gay Time for the Children.
One of the largest crowds which has ever assembled in the Te Poi Memorial Hall attended the children’s fancy dress dance on Friday. The evening was in aid of the dental clinic funds. The effort was a great success in every way, and the receipts totalled about £2O. There were about 80 children in fancy dress, and the grand march was one of the most attractive features of its kind ever presented in Te Poi. For this success great credit is due to Mr. J. J. Molloy and Misa Garland, the teachers, who had devoted much time to coaching the children. The evening went with a happy swing from start to finish, and the children enjoyed themselves to the limit. Great credit for the success of the function is due to the committee and to the ladies who supplied supper.
During the evening Mr. A. M. A. Wright, the Te Poi representative on the dental clinic committee, outlined in detail the work which was being done in a manner which was appreciated by those present. A hula dance which was greatly appreciated was performed by two Maori girls, Mary Fox and Daisy Phiapu.
