Farewell Evening.

On Monday evening of last week a social evening was tendered to Mr. G. Wooldridge, who is leaving shortly for England. Visitors were present from Putaruru, Lichfield and Tirau, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Music was supplied by Mr. and Mrs. Newton. Several dancing competitions were held, and the winners were: Monte Carlo, Miss Edna Tyrell and Mr. J. Schwarz; spot waltz, Mrs. Hancock and Mr. Stringer. During the evening Mr. Macken, on behalf of members of the Okoroire Railway Tennis Club, presented Mr. Wooldridge with a set of brushes as a token of the esteem with which he is held, remarking that the guest of the evening had always proved himself to be a real sportsman, and would be missed from the district.

In returning thanks, Mr. Wooldridge expressed his regret at leaving a district in which he had spent a very happy time. Musical honours were accorded Mr. Wooldridge, and the evening closed with “ Auld Lang Syne.” Amongst the ladies present were: Mesdames Taylor, Allen, Hancock, Sumich, Macken, Newton; Misses C. Scott, M. Dodds, N. Henderson, K. Taylor, E. Tyrell and M. Tyrell.
