MOTOR OFFENCES.

MANY DRIVERS FINED.

Matamata Prosecutions. The Matamata county traffic inspector, E. W. Jordan, proceeded against a number of motor drivers at the Putaruru Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., on Friday. Convictions were entered and fines were imposed as follows: —

For operating trucks at speeds over those allowed over certain roads: John Wilmer Beggs, £2; James Caldwell, 10s; Lance S. Judd, 10s; Stanley Turton, £l. For driving without licenses: Ben N. Garland, 10s; William Lawson, 10s; A. Page, 10s; Robert Stewart, 10s.

For operating a lorry without having it registered: John Pittar, £2. For exceeding the Incensed load : James McKeon, 15s.

With regard to Pittar’s case it was pointed out that he only had the lorry on trial. The Magistrate said he must have recorded fifteen convictions against the man. However, he would take the circumstances into consideration and let him off lightly this time.
