1• O ) RIDING FINANCES. ; A statement presented by the i treasurer to the Matamata County ■ Council at the - March meeting gave the following particulars in regard [ to the rates struck for the present [ year and the amount outstanding to date. It is to be noted that the amount of rates struck is for the current year only, while the amount outstanding includes unpaid rates from the previous year. The growth of the export trade in New Zealand frozen pork is shown j by the following figures of amounts exported in recent years: 1925, 46,000 cwt, valued at £167,000; 1926, - 1 70,000 cwt, valued at £271,000; 1927, 104,000 cwt, valued at £352,000; 1928', 156,000 cwt, valued at £449,000; 1929, 169,000 cwt, valued at £544,000. In 1 1929 over 90 per cent of the pork f exported went' to Britain and the rest to Australia. Of the £23,000 worth of ham and bacon exported nearly r £17,000 worth went to Australia. i
