"AT HOME" AT "DAVAAR."
On Wednesdaiy afternoon, 18th last, the home ot Mrs W. MTnnes was the scene of a very happy social afternoon when Mrs and Miss MTnnes entertained sixty ladies. The object of the gathering was to receive gifts lor the jumble staff at the October Spring Show of the Presbyterian church. A bounteous and beautiful afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and helpers. The following contributed enjoyable items: Vocal solos-, Misses Eva Davies and Molly Simson; mu-hal monologue, Miss Esther Percy; piano solo, Miss MTnnes; dialogue, Mesdames A. Tripp and 'McIntyre. A very entertaining charade arranged by Mrs IE Davies was presented in. character, the word portrayed being “pageant,” in three acts. The following were the players: Mesdames H. Davies, A. Tripp, R. Ingles, W. J. More, J. L. Lindsay, Misses MTnnes, Percy, B. Boyne, M. tdmson, Helen, Jessie and Mary Burns, M. Thompson and I. Ingles. The gifts, on being opened were found to be varied in character and will prove most acceptable for sale on the jumble stall. Several donations were- also received. Before dispersing, Mrs D. K. Boyd, president of the P.WAI.U. of the local Presbyterian chinch, expressed the appreciation of all present to Mrs and Miss MTnnes for «a very pleasent afternoon spent at their home and conveyed good wishes for a successful stall. The company then joined in singing “For they are Jolly'’ ■Good Fellows.”
