The above teams met on the Arrow ground on Saturday last in a challenge match for the Teacher’s Cup. The ground was in good order, and there was a fair attendance of spectators. The game, which was interesting throughout, resulted in a win for Arrow (the holders) by 16 points to nil. Early in the game Murphy had to go olf owing to minor injury, and G. Jenkins went on as full back, Little going up to centre threequarter. Although playing with the sun in their eyes in the first spell, Arrow had the best of the play, and led 6—o at half-time. The first score was a penalty goal kicked by Bakers, followed by an unconverted try by R. Jenkins. Arrow held the advantage in the second spell, and added two converted tries. The first try was a line effort by Dakers, who beat several of the opposition before getting over the line. The second try, scored by T. Cowie, was the result of fast following up. Both tries were converted by Dakers, whose tally for the match was 10 points. The Country players put up a good u-p-hill light, and in the closing stages were on the attack. Mr J. D. Seekup was the referee. B GRADE CUP. Queenstown and Arrowtown B grade teams met on the local ground on Saturday. The game ended in an easy win for Queenstown by 32 ptsi to 13. In the first spell, Arrow had the territorial advantage, although the score was in favour of the local side. Queenstown piled up the majority of points in the second spell. This is the concluding game in the B grade contest and gives Queenstown the cup. Mr R. Robertson was the referee. LUMSDEN v. QUEENSTOWN SENIORS. A scratch team of Lumsden players engaged Queenstown seniors in a friendly match on the local ground on Saturday. The local team was not up to full strength, which would account for the difference in the scores. The game was very ragged although there were some brilliant Hashes of passing, particularly on the part of the Lumsden backs who used the inpass to advantage at times. The Queenstown pack obtained most of the ball from the scrums, but mishandling

on the part of the backs “nullified scoring chances. The scores in the first spell were 8 to 6 in favour of Queenstown. McCorkindale kicked a penalty and Banders scored a try from! a long side kick by A Ido us, which was converted by MoCorkindale. Orosbie scored and A. Sutherland kicked a penalty for Lumsden. m the second spelt W. Sheriff scored early as the result of ha strong offensive movement, but the try was not converted. Lumsden attacked mostly for ten 'minutes but the defence held. Williams ran well down the Line to touch but he went out of bounds. A series of short forward rushes then enabled Menzies to cross over and score, but the try was unconverted. Queenstown was in one or two good scoring positions later on but their opponents kept them out. lumsden and several penetrativo movements endangered Qirenstown’s line until Hazlett eventually crossed over for a good try.
