TOWN HALL TALKIES
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3. “THE BARRETS OF WIMFOLE STREET.’’ “PADDY O’DAY, FRIDAY, MARCH 5. One motion picture scene transformed little Jane.Withers from one of the striving thousands to an outstanding juvenile screen player. It was a single sequence in “Bright Eyes,” in which Jane Withers supported Shirley Temple, that set this little Atlantan’s feet on the road to him fame.
Jane was supposed to imitate a machine gun in a scene of child makebelieve, but she did her job with so much abandon and hilarious effect that she was immediately signed on a long term contract. Since that time, Hollywood's new child phenomenon has appeared in three pictures in which she has exhibited further talents.
The new Jane Withers’ him is “Paddy O’Day,” a Fox film, which will bo shown in the Town Hall on FRIDAY next (not Saturday). With plenty of song and dance interludes, it tells the heart-tugging story of a lonesome little Irish colleen in search of love and happiness.
“BABES IN TOYLAND.” MONDAY, MARCH 8.
