The Unemployment Levy.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT. Under the principal Unemployment Act, those people liable for the levy had to register at Post Offices within a month after the commencement of the Act and the coupon books were issued at a later date. The amending Act makes registration and the issue of coupon books simultaneous actions Those liable would be wise early payment in order to avoid ,tue congestion that is probable in the larger centres from Ist August onwards. The penalty for default in payment for more than one month is £5, and for every month or part of a month after the first month that the levy remains unpaid provision is made for an additional fine of sixpence. A good number of people have paid the levy up to the eud of November, and it is desired that some time in that month they shall call at a MoneyOrder Office and have a readjustment made with respect to the payment of 5s for the August-October levy and the 7s 6d they have paid for the September-November quarter.
