QUEENSTOWN BRASS BAND

Tim annual general meeting of the Queenstown Brass Band (Itegd.) was held in ihe bandroom on Thursday evening last, 28th ult. There was a full attendance of members, Mr A. E Anderson being voted to the chair.

The chairman said that the band had to be congratulated on its satisfactory financial position. The credit balance in the bank was £4l 3s lid and the outstanding accounts amounted to £9 8s 3d, leaving an actual balance of JE3I 158 8d to start the ensuing year with. Several of the old instruments wanted replacing and the bandroom required some repairs so that these things would pretty well absorb the money now in hand. Reference was made to the loss the band had sustained in the departure.of Messrs R. McDowall (solo tenor) and T. Williams (b-flat bass), both of whom were really good bandsmen and who would be greatly missed.

The following office-bearers were elected :—A. E. Anderson, bandmaster; F. St Omer, sergeant; T. H. Tallentire, corporal , D. Watkins, librarian, and Geo. Reid, drum-major. Mr T. H. Tallentire was re-elected secretary and treasurer, and Mr P. T. Malaghan, auditor, for the ensuing year.

The following five other members were appointed to form, with the bandmaster, secretary and treasurer, a committee of management:—Messrs F. St Omer, J. W. Gardiner, D. Watkins, A. M'Dowall and H. Constable.

A vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting.
