A general discussion took place on _ the remits on the agenda, paper of the Agncul-. tiiral and Pastoral Conference, to he ho.d (n July 16 and 17. , The committee approved of the proposal of the executive that tho timo hud arrived when Agricultural and Pastoral Associations ehould take into consideration what wore the bo3t means to adopt to improve the work oi the societies and add to their usefulness as a means of advancing Knowlepra in t.he practice of agricidturo and the breeding of li\’Q stock, and that it should be an instruction to the incoming executive to submit concrete proposals to societies for consideration by them prior to the next annual conference The committee considered that the Government should make inquiries regarding suitable outside markets for Now Zealand purebred stock; that tho Government should make allowances for tho employment of epialifbd agricultural masters in all secondary schools; and that tho Government bo requested to establish shearing classes for .the instruction of youths -s-t Technical Schools wherever they may be now or afterwards established throughout the Commit further supported the proposal that the conference be beld alternately in Wellington and Christchurch, A new procedure was adopted this year it. tho dioporal of the Challenge Cups. ■Usually they are, after being engraved, forwarded to their respective winners. An invitation was given to tho winners to meet the committee on Saturday, when a formal presentation of tho trophies would bo made, and also of certificates to past winners. The president complimented tho winners on thensuccess, and hoped the competition ar.ct the ■emulation o roused would be continued.

The cup donated by Mr John Cross to the winner of most points in tho house and dairy section was handed to the first winner, Mrs R. E. Judson. The cup donated by Mrs P. H. Thompson for the winner of hucst points in the flower section was handed to tho first winner, Mrs Alex Baxter. These two cups may be won outright. The winners of the challenge cups wero:— Oxford Challergo Cup Mr B. E. Jenkins; former winners, Messrs J. ’Wells (three times), E. Skuir, J. Gillandors and E, E. Jenkins (twice). Oxford Jockey Club Challenge Cup, Mr Alex Gillanders; former winners, Messrs A. D. Budge It. P. Meyers(throe times) and A. A. Fantham (twice). Mrs T- R. Gorton Challenge Cup, Mr A. TV. Adams; former winners, Mosers J. Cro-s (four times), W. J. Reed and Alex Baxter. The Foary Challenge Cup; Mr P. H. Thompson; former winners, Messrs W. G. Rudd (twice) and J. o’Ha.lloran (throe times). Tho John Ingram Challenge Cup: Mr C. H. Ensor; former winners, Mossrs H. l’nsor, AY. J. Jenkins (twice) and C. H. Thifor. The O'Hailoran CL'oilcnge Cup; Mr C. H. Ensor; former winners, Messrs H. Ensor (twice) and C. H. Ensor (four times),
