CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The Board of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday afternoon; present —Mr H. D. Acland (chairman), Bishop Julius, Dean Harper, Dr G. M. ■ Lester, Messrs J. C. Adams, T. Hughes, S. G. Raymond, K.C., G. T. Booth, L. M. Isiti, M.P., C. H. Opie, L. B. AVood, A. E. Flower, H. Boyd and S. Hurst Seager. Mr E. G. Foster wrote, thanking the board for its resolution and letter of sympathv in connection with the death of lite father, Mr T. S. Foster, and Bishop Julius personally thanked the board' for a similar resolution in respect to the late Mrs Julius, Tiro Museum and Library Committee reported having received a number of additional donations for the commercial and technical section of the Public Library from several firms and private individuals.' It had been decided that the Public Library 6hould be closed on People's Show Day, November 8. The committee also reported having considered the estimates of receipts and expenditure for the year 1919 for the departments under its control, and recommended their adoption ,

The report was adopted ' The College Committee recommended that the Professorial Board should bo granted permission to erect at its expense, in the College Hall, a brass tablet in memory of the late Mr T. S. Foster, subject to the design and inscription being approved by the chairman' of the Board of Governors, and also that the High Schools' Visiting Sub-committee should be empowered to make the appointment of an assistant master of the Boys' High School, duties to commence at the beginning of 1919. . The report was adopted. The board then went into committee.
