DEPUTY DENOUNCES ALLIANCE.

A Czech Deputy, Herr Preschek, in the Austrian Chamber, declared that the Austro-German alliance had proved disastrous, plunging Austria into a world war, which Germany started. The entire world was now hostile to Austria, which would suffer for Germany's crimes.
Herr Preschek urged that Austria should break loose.
Tho Emperor Karl, addressing the party leaders, regretted the speech, and said that the alliance- with Germany was the foundation of Austria's security and the basis of her foreign policy.
HUNGARY SMITTEN.
EPIDEMIC OF SLEEPING SICKNESS.
AMSTERDAM, July 3. Hungarian newspapers state that there is an extraordinary epidemic of sleeping sickness, in consequence of tho prevalence of debility. It differs from the tropical sleeping; sickness. Sufferers sleep for months and die.
TERRORISM IN BELGIUM.
OFFICIALS ARRESTED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reoevied July 4, 11.10 p.m.) HAVRE, July 3. Von FaTkenhaysen has arrested Count DnnUremont, former Grand Marshal to Iv : ng Leopold, and twenty other high Belgian officials, including the Minister of the Colonies. The arrests are supposed to be reprisals for alleged bad treatment of German officials by Belgians.
