Appealing for recruits, Mr Pearce said the total casualties in the Australian army were:— Killed . . . 26,100 Wounded . . 36,940 Sick . . . 26,000' Missing . . . 5,208 Prisoners of war . 1,200 Unknown casualties . 246
Total . . 95,694 Altogether 366,523 Australians have enlisted.
