MILITARY FUNERAL.

THE LATE PRIVATE DOUBLED AY

Private Leonard Charles Daub led ay, who died in tlio training camp on Monday, was buried at tho Church of England cemetery, Kaiap-oi, yesterday with military honours. There was a large attendance of tho public, including representatives of tlio Kniapoi Borough Council, Eyro County Council and Waimakariri Harbour Board. The funeral cortege was headed by the Thirteenth Regimental Band, under LieutenantBandmaster C. Hoskin, playing, the Dead March in “ Saul,’” followed by a. detachment of the Thirteenth Regiment, under Captain Atwell and Lieutenant Batchelor. The hearers wore Sergeant, Roland and Privates G. Young, G. C-„ Melirtensy. R. Purvis, 8, Stokes and P. Alfeld. The burial service was read by the vicar of St Bartholomew’s Church, the Rev J. Holland, after which a firing party, under Sergeant Gracey fired throe, volleys over the grave, and tho Last Post was sounded, by Lieutenant-Bandmaster C. Hoskin and Band-Corporal W. IS. Knight. Many bcautiffd wreaths woro placed on the grave.
