APPEAL FOR GOODS. . The Ladies’ Committee of the Canterbury branch of the British Red Cross Society and St John Ambulance Association has received the following cablegram from Lady Jekyll, St John Ambulance Association, liondon: “ Swabs, rollers, slings, triangulars welcome —Jekyll.” This definite information should do much to spur workers oh to renewed efforts on behalf of the wounded. *. ' The following letters have also been received from Lieutenant-Colonel Moorhouse, Wellington:— “ (1) His Excellency the Governor has received a telegram stating that on fuller investigation the Marama will require 1500 suits of pyjamas. Could your Centro supply a quarter of these? *, “ (2) His Excellency the Governor has received a further request for the Marama. of 1000 mattress covers to be niado of strong unbleached, calico or similar material (uot too stiff). The size of the mattress is 6ft 2in long, 2ft Sin wide and sin deep. The covers should he made say, an inch more eacli way so as to slip over the mattress easily. Tho opening to’ insert the mattress should be left at tho end (i.e., 2ft 6in side). Would you please let me know by wire if your Centre can supply any, and, if so. bow many of.these?” The Canterbury quota of the abovementioned articles is onc-quarter, namely, 375 pyjamas and 250 mattress covers.
