i .RICCA’RTON DOMAIN CLUB. Tho annual meeting of tho Riccartoft Domain Tennis C!ub was held in the Oddfollovr’s Hall, Upper Riccarton, on Monday. Mr C. P. Taylor presided. The report elated that the past season had been a very quiet one. The suburban competition had been commenced, but was discontinued at the end of the first round. Several members had mode good uso of the courts during- the winter months. The committee had invited tho members of St James s Tennis Club to make use of the Domain courts whenever they wished to do so us their own court hud been taken for a vicarage site. Somo good games hud been played between the members of the-two clubs. Mr A . Hardy, :v member of the committee, had joined the Expeditionary Force, and while down on final leave was made the recipient of a present from the members of the club. The club, though only in its fourth season, had its three courts entirely free from debt and thero was a'small credit balsuwe with which to commence, the new season, the report was adopted. ' Officers were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr T Techemalcer; president, Mr O, n itty, •Vl, p • vice-presidents, Messrs A\.. Ballautyno, J/A. Holmes. G. E. Currie. ,S A Staples 11. English, J: F. Holmes, B. Bucknell and C. P. Taylor; committee', Mesdames Bigga and Guv. Miss Sparkcs, and Messrs C. C. Kemp, E. Reese, S. Hollohon and ,F. Fuller; delegates to Canterbury Lawn Tonnis Association and Suburban Association, Messrs G. Taylor and C. Kemp; auditor, Mr C. 1. Taylor; secretary and treasurer, Mr L. C. Ife-mp. The opening day was fixed for October It.
. NEW BRIGHTON CLUB. ' Tho twenty-second anntjal mevting of the New Brighton I/awn Tennis Club was held in the Borough Council Chambors on Wednesday evoning. In the unavoidable absence, of the president of tho club (Mr R. C. Bishop), M- G. Jackson, vice-president, occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance. The report and balance-sheet wer<* adopted. Officers were clocted as follow: Patron, Rev 11. 11. Mathias; president, Mr R. C. Bishop; vice-presidents, Hon G. W. Russel., the Mayor (Mr J. A. Flesher), and Messrs G. Jackson, T. Bullock, C. H. Opie, J. Cbeclriey and C ’ll. Winnv: management committee, Mrs Browning, Mis°es Pattrick and Spratt, and Messrs G. W. Bishop W. G. Lockwood, J Bosom-worth and J. Francis; honorary auditor, Mr C. H. Franks; delegate to Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, Mr R. Browning. , " Tho opening of tho season was fixed- for Saturday, October 7, and it was decided to havo a patriotic function in. connection with tho opening/the proceeds to go towards tne funds of the “ Our Day ” movement.- . Tlio question of allowing school cm.dren to uro the courts was discussed at. length, and the nratteT was referred to a sub-C-ommntee for a report.
