THE TRAINING CAMPS.
The mobilisation of the Twentieth Reinforcements at Foatherstou _ has given rise to a report that the periodic transfer of drafts from one camp to another willl be abandoned. It has been suggested that in future monthly reinforcements will go into the two permanent camps alternately, each draft completing its training in _ tile camp ip which it. was mobilised. Colonel Gibbon, Chief of the General Staff, told a " Dominion ” reporter that no change of the kind indicated was contemplated. The transfer of drafts from Trentham to Featherston after the preliminary training, and tlm march hack to Trentham _ across the R.imutakas, he said, were important features of the syllabus, and there was no reason why an alteration of the system should be made. Featherston Camp docs not possess a rifle range, though units can be taken from that camp to the Papawai range without much difficulty. It has been suggested that a rifle range might be provided at Pigeon Bush, but this work will not be undertaken at present. Featherston may be provided with a miniature range, but tho regular musketry courses will continue to be fired at Trentham.
