Tho third term at the Christchurch Technical Coilego opens on Monday, September IJ, both for tho Technical High School and for tho Evening School. On Wednesday evening a now class will be started for printers’ machinists, for which the names of twenty intending students have already been recoivcd. If the extensions no.w in progress at the shearing shed are completed, it is hoped to start tho classes in shearing on Monday, September 25. Unitarian' services are shortly to bo held in Christchurch, under tho control of Mr E. M’Donnell, who for the past ton months was in. charge of the Timaru Unitarian Church.
Tho first of a week’s campaign of mission meetings especially arranged for girls in their teens will be hold at the WW.C.A., Latimer Square, at 4.15 p.m. tomorrow. The meetings, which are being held under the leadership of Mrs Thornton, wife of Chaplain Guy Thornton, of the New Zcalaud Expeditionary Forces, will be continued each evening next week at 7.30. • , A musical programme will be held in the Cambr.dge Terrace Methodist Church at the close of ine ordinary service to-morrow night, when the choir of tho Riverside.. Glee Party will give items. A retiring collection will be taken up ou behalf of tho Featherston Camp Institute. Demonstrations with tho Sampson sieve grip agrimotor will bo held at Mr E. Smith’s farm, Lincoln, on Thursday. Farmers a.ro invited to attend. The annual meeting of the Harwell Patriotic Coramitteo will bo held in the PubLic Hall ou Tuesday evening next. A public . meeting will bo held at the Woolston Library on , Monday evening to consider the arrangements for the “ Our Day ” appeal on behalf of the Rod Cross. The next term of the Christchurch Boys’ High School will commence on Monday, September IS. The annual meeting of the Broadfiold Shearing Shed Company. Limited, will bo held at the Broadlield Schoolroom on Saturday evening next. Tho chairman of tho Waimairi County Council will address tho ratepayers on Thursday evening noxt, at tho Fendalton Schoolroom ou fire prevention.
