Word lias been received of the departure from Ivondon of the New Zealand Shipping Company's Kaikoura for Dunedin, Bluff and Lyttelton. The vessel should reach Dunodin about the end of January. ANOTHER F. AND S. LINER. The steamer Knight Baeholor, recently purchased by the Federal S.N, Company, Ltd., has been re-named Middlesex, and was to have left Liverpool on December 19 for Australian ports on her. first voyage in the now owners' interests. She is commanded by Captain Makepeace, who had charge of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Kaipara when sho was sunk by the German armed merchantman Kaiser Wilhclm der Grosso. SHIPPING NOTES. Tho coming week- ia generally looked upon as a slack one from a waterside worker's point of view, but there is every indication that tho next few days will be somewhat brisk. Several Horns liners are due, and their presence should give the port a much more businesslike appearance than ha« prevailed of late. Having reached Timaru on Friday, the • teamer Largo Law, under charter to the .ihaw, Savill and Albion Company, is expected to arrive in Lyttelton on Thursday or Friday next. She is on the Homeward loading berth, and from this port will proceed to Wellington and Napier. In order to dischargo a further portion of her Liverpool cargo, tho Federal and Shire Company's Whakatano arrived at Wellington yesterday. Tho vessel is expected to reach Lvttolton about Wednesday or Thursday nest. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner R'lapehu, which sailed from Wellington on October 16, arrived at Avonmouth on December 8. In continuation of her voyage from London, the Federal and Shire Coni|>any's Somerset, under charter to tho New Zealand Shipping Company, reached Wellington yesterday. The vessel has a laTge quantity of cargo to discharge at tho northern port, and she is not expected in Lyttelton until Friday next. Loading operations will also bo commenced here, and subseaucntly calls will be mtitlo at Wailnra, Napier and We'lhigton. To-day the inter-colonial liner Manuka is due in Wellington from Sydney.
