Books rad newspapers. 7 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. MONDAY, DECEMBER 28. For Northern Porto, per Maori, at 6 p.m.: lato fee letters, 6.30 p.m.; guard's van, 7.23 p.m. train WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30. For Australian States (due Sydney January 41, India, China, Ceylon, Hong Kong, Straits Settlements, South Africa, also United Kingdom and Continent of Europe (due London February 7), per Maori, to connect with Manuka, at 6 p.m.; late fee letters, 6.30 p.m.; guard's van, 7.23 p.m. train. Registered articles, 4.30 p.m.; books, packets and newspapers, 5.30 p.m. Friday, January 1 (New Year's Day) Post Offices will be closed in all branches. Mails for despatch on that day will close at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 31. A delivery of all correspondence will be made over the counter at tho Chief Post Office on Thursday, December 31. between 8 and 9 p.m. Mails despatched from Christohurch on November 11. via San Francisoo, arrivod in London on December 20, seven days lato. There will be a daily mail service to and from the West Coast from December 21 to January 80. Mails for Australian States, etc., also Tonga, Samoa, Pago Pago and Fiji, close at Auckland, per Maheno, at 4.15 p.m. on Monday.
