THE GRAND MOTOR TOUR.
TO QUEENSTOWN FROAI FAIRLIE,
Mr G. TV. C. Alooh, officer in charge of the Christchurch Tourist Office, returned to Christchurch yesterday, after having made what the Prime Minister, the Hon T. Mackenzie, has called ine Grand Atotor Tour.” Air Moon left Christchurch on Saturday, April 27, and went to Fairlie, where lie took a motor on Alonday and journeyed to Pembroke, on Lake Tvanaka. Then he motored, over the ranges to Queenstown. On Sunday the return trip was started, and Pembroke was safely reached after a long ride through mountainous country. Yesterday Fairlie was reached and the trip concluded. Throughout tho ride. Mr Moon stated, tho roads were excellent. Tho outlay, upon them by the Government had made the trip a splendid one for motorists. The party went through beautiful country and the scenery was varied and wonderful. Mount Cook and tho Sefton Ranges were in view, and the ride near the snow-capped mountains was extremely interesting. It is expected that tho trip will become very poular when its beauties and delights are known. Tho service is said to be excellent, and the opportunities for the photographer and the artist are sufficient to justify the ride. In summer the road should be in better order, and it is probable that a large number of people will make the “Grand Motor Tour” under delightful conditions.
