BOARD OF GOVERNORS.
The Board of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday j present—Messrs J. C. Adams (chairman), J. L. Scott, T. W. Adomß, L. B. Mood, G. Rennie, H. D. Acland, S. Hurst Seager, T. S. Foster, G. T. Weston and W. H. Montgomery, Bishop Grimes and Bishop Julius. . . A motion expressing the Board s sympathy with the Registrar (Mr G. H. Mason), on the death of his mother, was carried unanimously. Mr T. IV. Rowe wrote accepting the position of assistant law lecturer, and resigning his seat on the Board. The letter was received, and the resignation accepted with regret. The headmaster of the Bovs’ High School reported on the results of the December examinations.
Tho headmistress of the Girls’ High School reported on the results of the November examinations at that school. It was decided to apply for an official list of the results of the matipculation examinations.
The Registrar of the New Zealand University wrote stating that at tho next meeting cf the Senate the question of international interchange of university students would be considered, and asking for certain information regarding the terms upon which the Board would be prepared to assist such interchange. " Tho matter was referred to the College Committee and Professorial Board for reports. The City Council wrote, stating that a committee of the Council would meet the representatives of the Board in conference on the question of the transfer of the Public Library at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, in the Council's library. The letter was received. The chairman reported _ that claims for enrolment for tho election of Mr T ,AA T . Rowe’s successor as a member of tlie Board must be in by March 4, nominations closing on March 11, and the election taking place on March 8. Tho arrangements wore approved. Mr Evans was appointed deputy-re-turning officer for the election.
Mr li. B. AA’ood moved—" That, seeing that th 6 Public Library account shows an ever-increasing deficit, and that an unexpected request has been made by Profeasor Scott for an expenditure of £5550 on additional buildings
and equipment for the School of Engineering, a return should be supplied showing the expenditure year by year on the; Public Library, School of Engineering. Museum and of Art, iri respect of (a) buildings, (b) equipment and (c) salaries, together with a return showing the sources and amounts of annual revenue.” Tho motion was seconded by. Mr J. L. Scott, and carried unanimously. On the recommendation of the College Committee, Girls’ High School exhibitions for the year 1912 were granted to the following pupils of the school-:—Nesta Mason, Vilberficlcl Gunn. Frances Taylor, Gwendoline Alley, Orma Do Mans, Elsie Earwaker, Esther Stewart and donstanee Donald. Esther Stewart and Constance Donald were granted the extra boarding allowance for country pupils resident at tho authorised school boarding-house. The report was adopted.
