AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL

Mr George Cormaek (Elgin) has almost completed harvesting an exceptionally fine crop of partridge peas, which will thresh well over 50 bushels per acre.

The number of entries of stock at tho Addington yards on Wednesday were as follows, those for last week being given in parentheses:—Cattlo 838 ( 753), sheep 30,569 (36,099), pigs 748 (524).

At the Kaikoura Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show on Wednesday, one of tho most interesting exhibits was a collection of twenty-one varieties of turnips grown by tho Agricultural Department on a piece of ground placed at its disposal by Messrs Walker ami Maude, Swyncombe. The turnips were particularly well grown, and were much admired by the farmer® present at the show.

A meeting of those interested in the establishment of a creamery at Hinds was held on "Wednesday evening, Mr D. M’K'enzie presiding. Considerable discussion took place regarding the site for tho creamery, and ultimately it was decided to recommend a site at the corner of Gidding’s and Boundary Roads as most suitable. A canvass of the room resulted in about 200 cows being promised, on condition, that tho creamery should bo erected on the proposed site.
