HAREWOOD ROAD.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —May I beg a small ©pace in the columns of your ever valuable paper with reference to this road. Twelve months or so ago Harewood Bead was one of the best roads in or near Christchurch ; to-day I do not think I am far out in saying it is the worst-, and, I feel sure those who use the road daily (especially cyclists) will corroborate my statement. I fail to see the consideration we receive at the hands of our representative on the Road Board when he consents to unbroken shingle being put on the road on the top of broken, metal, which was well worn down. Anyone with a grain of oommonsens© would know this would only make tho road like a riverbed, which it certainly has done. All the money spent on it (a matter of some hundreds of pounds surely) has simply _ been thrown away. As the election is now approaching, I think it would he a. very good tiling to try a new member for the Road Board of the' v district, and one who understands even a little about road-making. lam sure wo in tho district would all be grateful to him, and send him in again, if he could get the shingle now, on the road shovelled off and let ua have our “ old road ” back once more—l am, etc., HOPEFUL.
