PHILLIPSTOWN SCHOOL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —As the annual raoetiug of householders of the East Christchurch School District is to he hold on Monday overling next, I sincerely hope that the residents of that part of Linwood known as Phillipstown and Lancaster Park will attend tho above meeting and support the committee in their efforts to have tho Phillipstown School declared a. main, school by tie Board of Education, instead of remaining, as it has for many years, merely an infant school. Last year the second standard was abolished, as the school was overcrowded. Tho committee made some endeavour to move the Board of Education in tho desired direction, but in the eud the Board decided to do nothing. There is ample ground, and all that is required is three or four more rooms, when, there would be room for all the standards to be taught. It is a shame that children should only ho able to attend this school from two to three years, and then, when about eight years old or so, trudge off a mile or more to swell the attendance at Woolston, Opawa, Waltham or Gloucester Street Schools, and it seems especially hard in winter time to have to pass tiieir own school to attend in ailother district. Trusting that the residents of the district mentioned will attend the annual meeting, and show that they are at last alive to the injustice they have endured for many years and endeavour to have it righted,-! am, etc., HOUSEHOLDER.
