HOBBIES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see that Mr M’Nab, in his speech at Tima.ru, advises people to have hobbies. Now, if people want hobbies they need a good technical and crafts library, which at present they have not got. Surely our public men will not let the opportunity slip, but will ask Mr Carnegie, while he is still with us. to give his £2OOO, as he is still doing, to start- a first-clas6 technical library in a central position near the Young Men’s Christian Association and Gordon Hall. Tho citizens themselves would do the rest, ag it would sooa be one of the most useful institutions in the citv.—l am. etc.. W. JOHNSTON.
