The jury found Scott not guilty of tho charge of murdering his wife at Spring Gully on December 14. The Judge in discharging the jury said: “ Who did the deed is only known to God and yourself.” (Mrs Scott, wife of the manager of the Spring dredgo, was found shot on December 14. Her husband was arrested on a charge of murder on the evidence of his little daughter, who stated, that her father and mother were quarrelling. Her father struck her mother,- and afterwards she heard a shot fired.)
