ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
Yesterday a man named James M’Gowan was admitted to tho Christchurch Hospital suffering from a fractured thigh. The injury was caused by a falling balo of wool. Yesterday afternoon a man named Williams, employed as a cook on a threshing machine in North Canterbury, cut his right hand with a butcher’s knife, and had to seek surgical aid in Rangiora. A boy named Gerald, a pupil at Mr Orf ord’s Wailii School at Winchester, broke his thigh on Sunday. The accident, was caused by a tree breaking and falling on_ tho boy. Dr Loughnan, who was visiting the school, attended to him at once. While at work on Tuesday in a cutting on the -midland Railway works at Broken River, a man named W. Thompson was struck on the chest by a falling boulder, which weighed about 101 b. I-Ie made little of tho accident at the time, but yesterday ho suffered considerable pain, and lie came to Christchurch last evening to seek medical advice.
