ALLEGED CORRUPTION IN HIGH PLACES. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, October 26. Serious charges against high police officials were made before the Police Commission. Mr M'Hugh, ex-Police Inspector, stated that he bad bet v n greatly hampered in carrying out his duties by the Chief Commissioner. A clerk in the licensing office stated that the Chief Commissioner was part owner of a certain hotel, and on one occasion the witness had to 6erve a notice on him. Other allegations of the undue exercise of influence by the Chief Commissioner were made.
