THE HARVESTER TRUST.

* BILL TO BE INTRODUCED. [FSOM OuR ColUlESr-ONBEXT.] "WELLINGTON,- October 26. The Government has decided to introduce a Bill this session, dealing with the threatened invasion of the American. Harvester Trust. The terms of. the measure have not been announced,' but it is understood that the House will be asked to sanction the setting up of a Board composed of representatives of the Trades Councils, Farmers' Unions, Industrial Associations and Agricultural and Pastoral An Act of a repressive nature will be placed on the Statute Book, but will not come into force except on the recommendation of the Board, which will •be asked to decide whether the danger from the American invasion justifies action. The Labour Bills Committee, to which was referred the petitions praying for immediate Legislative action in regard to the Trust, reported to-day that the question involved is one of policy, and referred' it to the earnest consideration of the Government. The Bill will be in the nature of a compromise. A proposal to place a high duty on imported agricultural implements would meet with strong opposition from some country members, and would have no chance of success at this stage of the session, but the House I may agree to leave the matter in the I hands of a body representing the interests concerned.
