I! HCEPTION AT PALMERSTON NORTH. [Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, February 26. Tho Premier was cntertainicd by the citizens of Palmerston North to-day, a luncheon being given in his honour at the Racecourse, and various functions ,at tho residences of Messrs S. W. Luxford, Wand R. S. Abraham. In the evening a banquet was held, and was attended by'-.about two hundred guests from all parts ot the district. Mr Leddon had a. most enthusiastic reception. Ho opened no new grouml in his speech. He said that Iho proposed importation of Chines© into South Africa would be a desecration of the graves of thensons and heroes, but had probably-boon prevented now by the intervention of ft greater power than man, iu the Japanese)■'n AVar. Referring to the trust monopolisation of the cotton market, he said that British capitalists should turn their attention to "rowing cotton in live northern parts of New Zealand, im Britain’s island possessions, and in Australia. He expressed tho opinion, also that the commission which had been appointed to deal with tho native land question in the Now Hebriß.es was an indication of th© good feeling between Britain and 'France,
