A UNIFORM SIXTH STANDARD.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —That uniformity of attainment in the Sixth Standard is desirable, is undeniable, but, surely, the aspersions cast on the proficiency of pupils of country schools, by your Rangiora correspondent, are the result of a somewhat limited experience. I venture to state that, in spite of his assertions, there is as good material sent out of many a country school as could be sent from the town, 'indeed, the general .proficiency of a small country class often exceeds in every other respect, the standard achieved by a large town class. Your correspondent asserts that the medium (Fifth Standard town pupils have been classed as good Sixth in • country schools. When? Where? Doubtless raw material' occasionally leaves a country school, but, as Mrs Poyser would sav, surely " God made 'em so, to match" the raw in the town. —I am, etc., EYEETON.
