FIRE ALARMS.

TO THE EDITQE. gj rj —Just a few words in answer to a leltET which appeared in Saturday's " Times " under the heading " Fire Alarms." The writer considers the men who are not resident at the Fire Brigade station should have tho telephone connected with their houses. I presume he wants the brigade men to have no fresh air at all, since he expects them to wait in their houses until tho telephone rings. Besides, all the lira police would have to be warned, as the enginc-3 draw a big crowd of the public. Taken all through, I presume the writer is lacking in common-sense.—l am, etc., ENCORE.
