HORSE PARADES.

[Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, Sept. 27 The horse parade, held to-day, under the auspices of the Agricultural and Pastoral Society, was attended by twenty-four horses. The thoroughbreds were not strongly represented, bub there was a fine show of heavy Worses. Considerable difopinion existed as to the merits of the Government Shire horse, Danger Signal,. many considering him light in bone. ’ By others he was greatly admired. The annual horse parade, under the management of the committee of the Timam Agricultural and Pastoral Association, was held in a paddock near the town on Saturday morning. Seventeen draughts, three thoroughbreds, and six trotters and hackneys were shown. Prizes were awarded by popular vote in each class, the awards being: —Draughts, Mr A. Hamilton’s Champion 1, Mr J. Austin’s Royal Prince 2, Kerr and Prayne’s Challenger and N. E. Evans’s British (equal) 3. Thoroughbreds, Messrs Kerr end! Prayne’s Waterloo 1, Mr B. Orton’s Telemeter 2. Trotters, Mr Campbell’s Mambrino King 1, Mr D, Gibson’s Forrester 2. In each case, the first prize was won by a large majority of votes.
