MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
At the usual meeting of the St Albans Wesleyan Literary Society on Tuesday evening, the Rev W. G. Parsonson read a paper on “Ruskin, his Life and Work. ,; Various extracts from Ruskin’s works were read by members, and altogether a pleasant and profitable evening was spent. On Tuesday evdninig a meeting was held in the Wesleyan schoolroom, Woolston, under the auspices of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, the Rev Jones presiding. Temperance addresses were given by Miss Roberts and Mr J., T., Gmith, and musical items were given by the choir. Refreshments, supplied by the ladies, were handed round.
■; The weekly, meeting of the Cambridge Terrace Literary and Debating Society was held on Tuesday, evening. Mr G. Venables (vice-president) occupied the chair,. , and there were-about twenty-five members "present. The question box was brought into requisition, some terse and witty answers being given to a number of questions.
