ENTERTAINMENTS.

Mr and Mrs M'llraith gave a successful concert or. Friday, June 27, in the Barrhill School. About "two'hundred invitations had been iesued, and; the school -was ■■■well filled. Songs were given by Mrs Dav.is Hunt (Ohristchurch),, Misses Hardy . and Olive M'llraith, and .Messrs Freeman and A. D. M'llraith. Mr Dick gave a recitation, and Messrs Brick and M'Kenzie step dances. : The'Misses Brick and 'Miss Hardy played overtures. Magic lantern views were also shown. • At the conclusion' of the concert cheers were given for j»jx and. Mrs M'llraith. Afterwards dancing was kept up to the small hours of the morning. The spinsters of East Malvern invited their friends to a ball on Friday in the Sheffield Road Board office. Despite the snow there was a large gathering. The room was tastefully decorated, and a very pleasant time -was spent. ' Messrs Pole ■ and Gray supplied the music, and tne ladies the refreshments. On Tuesday night a. very' successful entertainment was given •in' connection with the Rangiora Good Templar Lodge. Several well-arranged tableaux formed the chief part of the programme,' and musical selections were contributed by Misses M. Jones, Mardon, M; Anderson, R. Campbell, L. Mardon, E. Luxton and Mr G. W: Smith. Refreshments were" provided, and a dance followed, Miss •M. • Luxton being the pianiste. ■';'■'"
