A /sitting of the ' Native Appellate-; ■Court was held at Kaiapoi on Monday before Chief Judge Davy and 1 Judge Mackay, with Wheta-hiro as j Assessor. The only case taken, which was a long one, was an appeal by one Win. , H. Ucu, in respect of a decision given in 1 -the.'Native Land Court by -Judge Bishop on the 9th June, 1899, appointing succes-sors-.to Mikaera Turangatahi (deceased) in ) sections situate in the Kaiapoi and Oxford i districts. Mr Stringer, counsel-for appel-, lan't, claimed that his client was the proper successor under a will of deceased, and 501 e... beneficiary thereunder. The respondents were the nearest of kin. The whole ques- i tion involved was whether the land was de visable by will) or not, according to- the wording of restrictions in the Grown grants' of the’, said lands. ; After argument on, both sides, judgment was reserved.
