An apology was’’ received from- /Mr Deans for his absence. The Chairman,’'reported that the Board’s surveyor was still confined to his .bed by illness, and would not be present. Before starting the ordi- ; nary business, the Chairman moved- —“ That, the Board at its first meeting: after lira death of her Majesty the Queen, express? </; its -deepest sympathy , with his Most- Gi/d----cious Majesty King VII.- at ;th-e grave loss he and the Empire have tained.” Accounts amounting to 3d were passed for payment. / TAI-TAPU. ‘' A meeting of the Boa-rd was hi )ld on Feo. 1; present—Messrs Leathern (chair-; man), J. J. Herrick, R. A. Forbed, Gih mour and M’Artney. It was resolve )d that some necessary repairs should be effected on Ahurh’i Road, that tenders should be invited for cleaning district drains, cmd for carting about 400yds of shingle.. Rh was resolved that the tenant of. fßreserve 1107 should be given notice toi fence according to agreement. • : RAKAIA. / A meeting of the Board" was] held on Feb. 11; present—Sir John Hall- (chairman), and all the Mr M’Lacfclan’s resignation of the office oi ,pDundkeeper was accepted, and steps were) taken to fill the vacancy. Walter Nelson vras appointed cattle ranger. Tenders for t-lae purchase of old birch plauMng removed from the Glentunnel Bridge, were-, accepjtedl cut sixpence per plank. It was dfecided h-o tar the new planking and re-paint .the -parapets of Glentunnel Bridge, and to caUr tenders for renewing the bridge over the Horo-r----ata onCor dy’sH-oad, with black birch.j timber. The Clerk was instructed - to give notice by advertisement, that all- ratejs not paid lief ore March 1 will be.su.ed for. 1 Com- ; plaints were made by Mr J- Hartnell and Mr L. It was deeddfed to take immediate action to enforce' the cleaning'of the portion of the race complained of. • ■' -ASHLEY. A meeting of the Ashley Road!. Board ; was held on Fob. 7; present—Messrs Dob-. son (chairman), Carmichael, Pulley and White. Mesrs E. G. Simpkinson and John Robertson waited on the Board and objected - to the Board carrying into effect its intention to bring gore© and broom under the heading of noxious'‘weeds. The Chairman explained that phis was the'only means ; the Board had of dealing with certain «-,j copiers who bald! gorse on.- their road front- , ages. Upon the motion ;,cif Mr White, se-, conded by the chairman, it was resolvedl’ that gorse and) broom should! be noxious; weeds. The Oxford 1 Boadi Board wrote asking the Board’s opinion of the apportionment of 6 the cost of maintenance of White’s Bridge. ■ The Board considered': that Town Board® and boroughs should be, included dm the allocation. A further sum of £7 was granted for the purchase of birds’ eggs. ; ,/ MOUNT PEEL. : A meeting of the Board , was held-on Friday. Mr A. Hope made application '(to have -.certain blind, reads stopped, seeing' that they ■ only gave access to Ms land. As the Board’s maps were in Christchurch, the matter was held over till next Board day. The Overseer reported on the site for a stock-bridge .to!Mr W. Dixon’s section. He/ submitted a sketch- plan of. a suitable structure, to consist of' two Howe truss spans and three ordinary bearer spans. It was decided to erect the bridge accordingly. After the completion, of business an informal discussion took place on the action of the Timaru Harbour Board! in deciding to complete the breakwater extension by day labour, and it was unanimously decided to ask the Board’s representative to strongly oppose this. . LITTLE RIVER. A meeting of the Board was held on Feb.. 4; present—the chairman and all the raemb ers. Mr J ohn Longoy and others wrote requesting that fences should be reproved from off the read through Reserve-887. It was resolved! that the occupier of land abutting on this road should be given notice to remove the obstructions complained of within one month. The Valuation' ■; Department forwarded an account for £2117s 3d for revising the - roll. It was resolved’ that the Commissionerifi attentioui should 1 be jailed to tire large ■ sum -charged, and as the main cause-ox this hadl'been the errors and omisassessments _
