In the negotiations between the miners now on strike in South "Wale® and the colliery proprietors, the latter insisted that the miners’ delegates to the proposed conference should be armed with plenary powers, and that the men should accept the new sliding scale. A ballot amongst the miners upon these questions resulted in a majority of 54,110 against investing their delegacies with plenary powers, and 33,020 against the new sliding, scale. N WELLINGTON, April 19. The-Conciliatkm Board bas arrived at a decision respecting the tailoresses’ dispute, and this, which will he announced tomorrow, is expected to meet with the favour ofboth parties. DUNEDIN, April 19. The Arbitration Court sat at Palmerston to adjudicate upon a dispute between the Allandale Coalminers’ Union and the Allandale Coal Company. The matter had beenbefore the Conciliation Board, but its decision was not accepted by tbe Union. The case was opened and some evidence taken, and the Court then adjourned -to Thursday, at- Dunedin. The Court will hear-dihe • pastrycooks’ dispute to-morrow.
